That thing you've been putting off.
The disposal that hums and does nothing. The ceiling fan still in its box. The hole in the drywall from the doorknob. Gary handles the small jobs around the house, and because he is a Licensed Master Plumber, the ones that turn out to be plumbing jobs get done right too. Charlotte, Campbell, Prince Edward, and Lunenburg counties.
What we take care of
Handyman work is the list on the refrigerator. Here is what usually comes off it.
- Garbage disposals. Jammed, humming, leaking, or dead. Repair when it makes sense, replace when it does not.
- Ceiling fans. Hanging a new fan or swapping out a wobbly one where a fixture already is.
- Drywall patches. Doorknob holes, water-damage patches after a leak is fixed, the spot where the old towel bar was.
- Faucet swaps. Kitchen, bath, laundry. Bring your own or ask Gary what holds up.
- Caulk and grout. Tubs, showers, and sinks resealed so water stays where it belongs.
- Doors and hardware. Sticking doors, loose hinges, deadbolts, cabinet pulls, towel bars, grab bars.
- Small repairs. The one-off fixes that are too small to call anybody about. Call anyway.
Anything on that list that turns out to be a water problem underneath, like a faucet swap that reveals a corroded shutoff valve, rolls straight into plumbing repair without a second call.
Handyman job or plumbing job?
People ask this a lot, usually because they do not want to call a plumber for something small or a handyman for something that needs a license. Here is the honest line.
Plumbing job: anything that changes or repairs the water supply lines, drain lines, or vent lines. Water heaters. Well pumps and pressure tanks. Rerouting pipe for a remodel. That is licensed work in Virginia and it should be.
Handyman job: the fan, the drywall, the caulk, the door, the hardware, the disposal that just needs to be reset or replaced in the same spot.
Why it does not matter which one you call: it is the same guy. Gary shows up for the ceiling fan, sees the slow drain in the bathroom, and fixes both. You do not have to guess which category your problem falls in. Just describe it.
Bundle it with a plumbing visit
This is the part most people miss. Out here, the drive is a real cost. Phenix to Victoria is about thirty minutes on VA-49. Phenix to Farmville is about thirty-five. When Gary is already at your house for a water heater or a well pump, adding the fan and the drywall patch to the same visit is the cheapest they will ever be.
So when you call about the plumbing problem, mention the list. All of it. Gary will tell you what fits in the same trip and what needs its own day. Nothing gets rushed, but nothing gets driven out to twice either.
Doing a bigger project? Fixture hookups, moving a sink, or a tub-to-shower conversion is remodel plumbing, and Gary does that too.
