Remodel time? We handle the plumbing part.
Bathroom or kitchen. New layout or a swap of what is there. Gary does the fixture installs, the rerouting, the tub and shower valves, and the hookups, so the rest of your project keeps moving. What we do on a remodel
A remodel is a lot of trades in a small room. Our part is everything the water touches. Here is what that usually includes.
- Fixture installs. Sinks, faucets, toilets, tubs, showers, and the trim that goes with them.
- Rerouting supply and drain lines. When the vanity moves or the layout changes, the pipes have to follow.
- Tub and shower valves. New mixing valves and rough-in for a tub, a walk-in shower, or a tub-to-shower conversion.
- Moving a toilet. Drain, vent, and supply relocated to the new spot, set and sealed right.
- Kitchen sinks, disposals, and dishwashers. New sink and faucet, garbage disposal, dishwasher supply and drain, all hooked up and tested.
If the water heater is old and the remodel is a good time to replace it, we can fold that in. See water heaters. If it is a simple faucet swap with no walls opening, that is more of a plumbing repair call and we handle those too.
With your contractor, or with you
Most of our remodel work comes through a general contractor. They run the job, we handle the plumbing rough-in and finish, and we coordinate the dates directly so nobody is waiting on anybody. If your contractor already has a plumber, great. If they need one, have them call Gary.
Doing it yourself? That works too. Plenty of homeowners around Farmville and Keysville tear out their own bathroom, hang their own drywall, and lay their own tile. Gary comes in for the parts that need a licensed plumber: the drain and supply changes, the valves, and the final hookups. You save money on labor you can do yourself, and the water side gets done right.
Either way, you get Gary. Not a crew you have never met, not a subcontractor of a subcontractor. One person who saw the rough-in is the same person who sets the fixtures.
Sequencing: when the plumber shows up
Plumbing on a remodel happens in two visits, sometimes three. Knowing the order keeps the project from stalling.
- Walk-through. Gary looks at the space, the existing lines, and your plan. This is where you find out if the toilet can move where you want it and what that involves.
- Rough-in. After demo and before drywall or tile. Supply and drain lines are run, valves are set in the wall, and everything is pressure-tested.
- Inspection, if required. Rough-in gets inspected before the walls close. Gary tells you if your job needs it.
- Finish. After tile, cabinets, and countertops are in. Fixtures, faucets, trim, disposal, and dishwasher get installed and tested.
The most common remodel delay is closing a wall before the rough-in is done or inspected. Get Gary on the calendar early and that problem goes away.
Permits, inspections, and septic
In plain terms: if the job moves or adds drain lines or supply lines, it usually needs a permit and an inspection through your county. If the job is swapping a fixture in the same spot, it usually does not. Rules vary by county and by what exactly is being done, so Gary tells you what applies to your job before any work starts. The work is done to pass. That is not extra; it is the job.
One more thing to think about out here. Most homes outside town limits in Charlotte, Lunenburg, and Campbell counties are on a private well and a septic system. Adding a bathroom means more water going into that tank. Adding a bigger tub means more hot water demand on the heater. Neither is a problem, but both are worth a conversation before the walls open up, not after.
